The mission of RISE Education System is to promote the holistic development of the child covering the psychological, emotional, spiritual, physical, intellectual and social well-being. This is accomplished by educating the child in the formation of faith, family and community. RISE East Bay students inshaAllah will learn to become responsible and productive members of the society through a faith-based education promoting tolerance, peace and justice.


RISE Education System strives for the development of the whole child by providing excellence in academic preparation in a faith-based environment. It is our vision to guide and nurture students to become role models who will exhibit high levels of God-consciousness, professional excellence and civic leadership by serving society at large.

History of RISE Education System

The RISE Education System was founded in 2009 with the establishment of RISE Academy (formerly known as SABA Academy), a non-profit, full-time K-12 Islamic school located in San Jose, California.

With the help of Allah, the school has continued to flourish, and as of 2021, the Academy graduated two 12th grade classes. In the fall of 2020, RISE Online, a fully online K-12 schooling option, was established as a second member of the RISE Education System. And in the fall of 2021, RISE East Bay, the third school and second in-person campus of the RISE Education System, was established in Hayward, California. 


RISE East Bay, as an extension of RISE Academy (San Jose), has the maximum accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges for all of its grade offerings


Moulana Nabi Raza Abidi

Moulana Nabi Raza Abidi

Maulana Nabi Raza Abidi was born and raised in Alipur, India in a religious, Syed family. After completing his early education, he moved to Iran at the age of 14 to pursue Islamic studies. He spent the first 2 years learning Farsi, basic Arabic grammar, and Akham in Najafabad, and then moved to Qom for 14 years. In Qom, he studied at Hujjatiyah, Fayziyah, and the Institute of Imam Jafar as-Sadiq under Ayatollah Jafar Subhani while concurrently earning his PhD from the University of Tehran. After completing his lower level studies, he participated in Dars Kharij under many reputable scholars, such as Ayatollah Jafer Subhani, Ayatollah Fazel Lankarani, Ayatollah Makarim Shirazi, and Ayatollah Wahid Khorasani.

Maulana Abidi spent 4 years answering questions in the office of Grand Ayatollah Fazel Lankarani and 5 years conducting research in theology and philosophy under Ayatollah Jafar Subhani, where he also helped write and publish books on various topics. Thereafter, he taught Usool, Fiqh, Philosophy, and Tafseer for 5 years in Hujjatiyah, Fayziya and Jamatuz Zahra.

In 2002, Maulana Abidi moved to San Jose, CA to serve as the Resident Aalim of SABA Islamic Center, and has done so for the past 20 years. Under his guidance, SABA Center has expanded tremendously and incorporated many successful undertakings, including a full-time school, RISE Academy. Additionally, he has helped establish and advises many foundations and masaajid. He is also the founder of al-Kisa Foundation and its subsidiaries, including Kisa Kids. Moulana Abidi serves on various school boards and provides guidance for several full-time and weekend Islamic schools around the United States and globally as well as establish guidance for the SABA Sunday School and RISE Academy.

He continues to further his studies in irfaan, philosophy, and Dars Kharij with renowned scholars correspondingly.


Br. Nauman Zaidi, M.Ed.

 Mr. Zaidi began his educational career as a teacher in LAUSD, teaching pre-algebra, algebra, math and science in the Coachella Valley Unified School District prior to being promoted to an administrative position. In his administrative position, Mr. Zaidi has mentored teachers, implemented anti-bullying programs, served as testing coordinator, provided curriculum development and improvement, increased parent involvement, provided technological support and worked on closing the achievement gap. Mr. Zaidi earned his Bachelor of Science from University of California, Riverside and his Master of Arts in Education with an administrative credential from Cal State San Bernardino. He holds a teaching credential in mathematics from UCLA.

Dr Nooh Kasraie

Dr. Nooh Kasraei is an educational leader with managerial and leadership experience in various organizations. After receiving his first Masters Degree in Information Technology and eCommerce and an M.B.A. in Decision Sciences and Quantitative Analysis, he went on to get his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. As a tenured professor of Education he trains school administrators and regularly travels around the world to present in conferences and conduct workshops. He has given keynote presentations in various international conferences and serves as a reviewer or editor for several international journals. For the past 20 years, he has served in various Islamic schools as a principal, evaluator, consultant, curriculum developer, administrator, teacher and board member. Since 2017, he has been serving at RISE Academy in San Jose, CA. With the blessings of his leadership and knowledge, the school has grown into what it is today.

Sayed Abazar Wahedi

Sayyid Abazar Wahedi was born in Qom, Iran where he studied Islamic theology for over 13 years in the Islamic seminaries. He is a well known Qur’an reciter, having won 1st place in the international Qurʾān competition in Iran. As a Hafiz of the Qurʾān, he has recorded a recitation of the entire Qurʾān. He is currently leading Islamic Center of Fatimiyyah in Hayward, CA and is the Qurʾān and Islamic teacher at RISE Academy. 


Sr Nazeera Salak

Academic Director

Sr. Nazeera Salak over the past 15 years has held several roles at various institutions as an educational leader including the roles of administrator, educational consultant, instructional coach, and teacher. Sr. Nazeera’s educational background includes a Master of Education: Specializing in Curriculum and Instruction, Multiple and Single Subject pk-12 Teaching Credentials, certification in School Management and Leadership, a Bachelor of Psychology degree, and certification in Positive Discipline.

Sr. Elham’s educational qualifications include a Master of Arts degree in Human Development with Emphasis on Leadership in Education from Pacific Oaks College. She is dedicated, innovative  and an seasoned teacher. She is a professional Educator respected for leading educational institutions and providing in-classroom guidance, and adapting effectively to post-COVID markets. She has a proven track record of organizing educational programs and communicating effectively with staff, students and parents.
